First recommendation that every one will give you to increase the performance of Fortnite Battle Royale on PC would be to lower your in-game settings. Without having to compromise much of the gameplay, you can always lower down your settings and have fun at the same time. Even pro players use low settings, they just have draw distance set as Max so they can view players running around.

The highest performance eaters are Shadows and View Distance, whereas view distance is important in the game because it allows you to see other players at further distances. So you don’t want your self to put in disadvantage right, just lower down all other settings and keep draw distance at medium, turn shadows down to low. This will drastically improve your FPS in game.
